at the doctors

So last week hubby and I went to a concert in the city.  We took the train in and then walked 1.2k to the venue.

I thought I would be ok as I am not fit at all.  I surprised myself by having to stop only twice to get my breath back on the way there and not at all on the way back. There were stairs and a long yet gentle hill/bridge climb involved - not all of it was flat.

The next day I could barely walk!!

My left knee was so sore and weak it wasn't funny.  The knee joint kept giving way.  I spent the day on the couch.  The next day was not much better.  Neither was the following day.

So much so that I actually went to the doctors about it.  Youngest can now stop nagging me.  Doc thinks I have arthritis in that knee and wants me get an xray - which I will organise for sometime this week (maybe next week).

One of the management strategies for arthritis is weight loss - funny that.

I have recently become a member of a Facebook group about Low Carb High Fat eating/way of life and have been reading the posts with much interest.  The people there have some interesting points, as well as some idiotic ones too (let's not go there).  Suffice it to say they are inspiring me to do something about the bulk I carry around.

Yesterday I fasted for 21 hours - from 7pm to 4pm - and possibly could have kept on until dinner at 7 but the cashews I have stashed called my name.  I ate a handful.  Surprisingly I wasn't all that hungry during the day nor in the lead up to dinner.  I was a bit hungry before bed, but I ignored that.

Waking up this morning I am no more hungry that any other day.  So far it's been 15 hours since I last ate and I will have something to eat soon.  Probably nut+seed granola, berries and yoghurt. I already know what dinner is going to be - a Chicken Cordon Bleu casserole and salad, or maybe steamed veges as it's cold today.

Here's to sticking to an LCHF way of eating - at hoping to anyway.

weight - 108kg.
